1969

ISRO was founded under the Department of Atomic Energy to advance space technology for India's development.

1975

First successful Indian satellite, Aryabhata, was launched from the Soviet Union.

1980

The Rohini series of satellite launch vehicles began development.

2008

ISRO launched its first lunar probe, Chandrayaan-1, discovering water molecules on the Moon.

2013

Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) successfully entered Mars' orbit, making India the first Asian country to reach Martian orbit and the fourth space agency globally.

2017

ISRO launched a record 104 satellites in a single mission using the PSLV.

2019

Chandrayaan-2, India's second lunar mission, aimed to explore the Moon's south pole.

2020 - Present

ISRO initiated the ambitious Gaganyaan program to send Indian astronauts to space.
